Inside Potter Space: Our people
At Potter Space, it’s not just commercial property. It’s about the people who bring our business to life every day: from our colleagues who drive our success, to the customers and communities that thrive on and around our sites, people are always at the heart of everything we do. To celebrate our 60th anniversary, we sat down with Olivia, Louis and Alex, three young and talented colleagues, to learn more about their roles, their experiences, and what makes Potter Space special.
Professional Life at Potter Space
Every role at Potter Space brings something unique to the table. Whether it’s supporting internal and external stakeholders, maintaining smooth financial operations, or ensuring efficient systems, each employee plays a vital role in the company’s success.
For Olivia Nelson, who joined in 2023 as Administrator, adaptability is key: “One thing I enjoy about my job is how my day-to-day differs. The saying ‘every day is a learning day’ is very accurate. My role involves a lot of adapting, which can be challenging but means I am more focused.” As the first point of contact, Olivia thrives in an ever-changing environment that allows her to grow both professionally and personally.
She recently completed a PA qualification, which enhanced her skills in time management, persuasion, and communication, along with advanced training in the Microsoft Suite. This achievement was supported by Potter Space, as part of its ongoing commitment to professional and personal development.
In finance roles, consistency and precision are essential. Louis O’Connor, Finance Assistant, describes his role as “Purchase Ledger-based, involving invoice processing, payment runs, accounts reporting, and credit control.” While his daily tasks require structure, he also values the opportunity to collaborate with his colleagues and continuously add new skills. Louis is currently working towards his AAT Level 2 qualification as part of his professional development
Alex Dalton, who took on the role of Finance Manager in 2023, highlights the cross-functional collaboration within Potter Space: “I enjoy the collaborative nature of my role, both within the Finance team and across the organisation. This teamwork creates a dynamic and varied work environment, where each day presents new challenges and opportunities.”
Moments That Define Potter Space
Every organisation has projects or experiences that leave a lasting impact. For Olivia, one of the most memorable moments was a team-building day filled with fun activities: “This kind of day really brings everyone together, which is what Potter Space is all about: the people.”
Louis and Alex both highlighted the implementation of new systems as a significant achievement. Louis recalls, “We spent a long time ensuring that all of the data we had from the old systems was transferred over seamlessly for our launch day. It was a big task, but the team effort we put in allowed us to get the new systems in place for all our colleagues to use more efficiently.”
Alex agrees, adding, “Despite the considerable challenges, the project proved to be both rewarding and impactful. It significantly improved data efficiency and accuracy, strengthening the organisation’s decision-making capabilities.”
What Makes Potter Space a Great Place to Work?
Beyond the day-to-day tasks and projects, it’s the culture that truly makes Potter Space stand out. For Olivia, it’s the strong sense of family: “There is such a positive and enthusiastic culture running throughout, and everyone is encouraged and supported to develop further.”
Louis values the opportunities for career progression in a supportive environment, while Alex highlights the company’s investment in its people: “There is a strong emphasis on collaboration and employee development, with a focus on both personal and professional growth.”
From team spirit to professional development, Potter Space celebrates 60 years of growth and success with a special focus on what drives the business: people.
