MP Julian Smith witnessed part of a £25m investment within his constituency when he visited the Potter Space Business Park in Ripon today.
He was given a tour of the site by Potter Space’s managing director, Matthew Lamb, and conducted a topping out ceremony of a new 27,500 square foot warehouse with the company’s property team, which project-managed the build.
The new warehouse has been built to provide additional facilities for its existing customer Primary Diets, which has operated from the site for more than 20 years, to cater for growing demand for its specialist animal nutrition products in the UK and overseas.
This latest building follows on from a 25,000 square foot warehouse, which was built speculatively at the end of last year and let, before completion, to I’Anson Brothers Limited.
Potter Space operates four other business parks from its head office in Ripon, located in Selby, Ely, Droitwich and Knowsley, comprising more than 250 acres and in excess of 1.6m square feet of commercial space, and has committed to investing £25m in the business over five years.
Speaking about his visit, Julian Smith said,
“This is an extremely positive story all round and demonstrates the investment, growth and job creation happening in North Yorkshire. Investment in the Ripon site has enabled companies on the site to thrive and prosper, bringing further success to the area. Thank you to all at Potter Space for showing me around.”
Managing director of Potter Space, Mathew Lamb, added,
“It was great to welcome Julian and take him around the business park so he could see the investment currently underway on site.
“In these uncertain times, it was good to share with our MP, Potter Space’s positive news and that of our customers. Providing first class facilities and being so close to the motorway networks has enabled us to attract and retain first class customers wishing to distribute their products across the UK and Europe.”
