Potter Space Droitwich inspires next generation with site tour

Market-leading commercial property businessPotter Space, opened the gates of its Droitwich Park to pupils from Cutnall Green C of E Primary School, to inspire and inform the next generation about the wide range of career opportunities which revolve around a thriving business park

The trip was organised to show the children what goes into the entire lifecycle of the thriving, modern business park and inspire them to consider the different career options. From planning, development, construction and management of the park itself, through to the diverse range of businesses who call the park home.

The visit took place in the park’s newest unit, 103. At the building, which is still currently under construction, the pupils learned what it takes to plan and build a state-of-the-art, sustainable unit, including construction techniques and how to stay safe on site.

They were also able to get their hands on some practical tasks by having a go at planning out their own building on the floor of unit 103, followed by building their own drainage system.

John Royle, head of construction at Potter Space, said: “It was fantastic to welcome the Cutnall Green pupils to Potter Space Droitwich. I’m particularly passionate about inspiring more young people to see the career opportunities available across the construction industry. There is huge demand for more space in the industrial & logistics sector in particular, so hopefully seeing our £18 million investment into our Droitwich Park might inspire children when considering their career options.

To further inspire the children, they spent time with Potter Space Droitwich’s newest customer, Falcon Contract Flooring, to gain an understanding of the impressive scale of businesses operating out of the park, and what it is like to run a successful business from a brand-new unit.

Elliot Garbett, managing director of Falcon Contract Flooring, said: It’s never too early to start thinking about the future and we’re looking forward to introducing the children to just a little bit of what we do in our fantastic new home. Sustainability is high on our agenda, and we hope that the visit will inspire the children to imagine what could be possible in the future.”

His commitment and generosity have made a significant impact on our school.”

“Our recent collaboration with Potter Space was especially beneficial for our pupils. By exposing them to a diverse array of career opportunities within the industry, we are providing them with invaluable insights that will help them make informed decisions about their future career paths. This initiative is crucial as they progress on their educational journey, equipping them with the knowledge and inspiration they need to pursue their ambitions.”

“The visit to Potter Space was an enriching experience for the pupils. They thoroughly enjoyed exploring the facility and were fascinated by the variety of careers associated with the industry. This hands-on learning opportunity not only broadened their understanding but also sparked new interests and aspirations among them. We are grateful to Derrick Potter and Potter Space for their continued support and for creating such a positive and educational experience for our pupils.”

Hopefully the visit will help inspire children in their career options for the future, and help to build prosperous communities.
