Rob Barker, Property Director, retires: Celebrating a Legacy

After nine years of service, Rob Barker, Property Director at Potter Space, has announced his retirement. Rob joined the company in November 2015, bringing with him over 25 years of experience in the property sector. He has been a key player in transforming Potter Logistics into the property industry leader that today is Potter Space.

With a diverse background that includes roles at Homegroup, Colliers, Creative Space Management Ltd, and King Sturge, Rob kicked off his chosen career path in London with Markheath Properties in 1988, before moving on to a wide range of roles within the property sector. Rob’s contributions to Potter Space have been significant, guiding the business through a pivotal transition and leaving a strong foundation for future growth. “Rob Barker’s leadership and knowledge have been instrumental in Potter Space’s transformation from a logistics company to a thriving property business. We are immensely grateful for his contributions and wish him all the best in this new chapter of his life,” remarked Jason Rockett, Managing Director of Potter Space.

Derrick Potter, Executive Chairman commented: “Rob joined us when we were Potter Logistics, when the emphasis was on operations, moving a variety of goods by road and rail. It was a key time for the business, its customers, colleagues, and the family. Rob’s role was to go through our property portfolio, which was a significant task considering he was the only Property Professional. The careful guidance he has managed to apply has enabled the business to have a smoother transition from logistics to industrial property

Jenna Strover, Head of Commercial Delivery, stated “His guidance and support have helped me progress not only in my career but also personally. He will be greatly missed by us all, but we wish him all the best in his next chapter.”

As the first property professional at the company, Rob has shaped not only Potter Space’s projects but also the careers of many young surveyors who have achieved their professional qualifications under his guidance. “Rob and I have worked together three times over the course of my career, and it has been a pleasure. Rob’s knowledge and guidance has been most welcoming. He has a big personality, which will be missed by all. I wish him a very happy retirement”  Glennys Conlon, Estates Manager reflected.

Chris Collins, Head of Asset Management, commented: “Rob has been a joy to work with and been a big support at my time at Potter Space. He has always been there to share his vast knowledge, with a positive attitude. His big personality will be missed, but I wish him a very well deserved and happy retirement.”

As Rob steps into retirement, Potter Space welcomes Richard Bousfield as the new Property Director. Richard will be responsible for managing the investment portfolio and advancing the company’s development pipeline through new investment partners.

We, at Potter Space, congratulate Rob Barker for a successful career that spans over 35 years and thank him for his invaluable contributions. We wish Rob all the best as he embarks on his well-earned retirement.
